Roxanne Davies Writer and Author Presentation

Roxanne Kurpita Davies, born in Montreal and a Concordia University graduate, has had a fascinating career as a newspaper reporter and author. She has written several books, including the family memoir Orchards, Crossroads and Dreams and co-authored Olga, The O.K. Way to a Healthy, Happy Life.
At this event, Roxanne will talk about her latest book, The Blue Riviera, which takes readers on a heartfelt journey to uncover the mystery of her mother’s untimely death.

The Chinese Canadian Museum is now permanently at home inside the historic Wing Sang Building in Vancouver’s Chinatown.
The Museum honours the history, contributions, and heritage of Chinese Canadians, while elevating and engaging with voices and communities across this country.
Dia de los Muertos Arts and Crafts’ by Mastercard Volunteers

We invite all seniors and community members to participate in our COVID and Flu Clinic at South Granville Seniors Centre, in partnership with Pine Tree Pharmacy. Protect your health this season with the Moderna COVID vaccine and flu shots tailored for both those over 65 and the general population.
Registration starts on Tuesday, October 1st. Please note: We are limited to 50 spots, so be sure to reserve your place early by contacting our front desk!

Current Events-Behind the Headlines
We are thrilled to invite you to our new class: "Current Events – Behind the Headlines," starting on October 8th! This class will be led by the highly knowledgeable Joseph Varesi, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and International Studies, a minor in English from UBC, and a Master of Education from Gonzaga University. With 33 years of teaching experience in social studies and English courses, Joseph brings a wealth of knowledge, particularly in world history and politics.
In this discussion-based class, Joseph will guide us through current world and national issues. Each topic will be introduced with its historical context, followed by an open discussion where you can share your thoughts, insights, and opinions. Among the topics we’ll explore are present conflict areas around the globe and the upcoming BC provincial and US elections.
If you are interested in understanding today’s world events more deeply and engaging in lively discussions with your peers, this class is for you!

Friendly Calls Program by Canadian Red Cross Presentation
Minimum donation $3 for members /

matches individuals aged 18 and older with trained Red Cross personnel who regularly connect with them over the phone to check in, provide emotional support, encourage healthy coping strategies, and suggest well-being resources as well as community connections to other services.

Presentation by Vancouver Canadian Writer Colin Thomas

Colin Thomas is a long standing theatre writer. He has worked with The Georgia Straight and has created an online initiative called FRESH SHEET where he publishes his theatre reviews in their entirety on his website FRESH SHEET. Colin has curated local, national, and international arts news and has degrees from UBC and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Colin's youth scripts have been honoured and performed on national & international stages. He wrote a series of playful poems "The Creature Feature" for Sesame Street.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Lunch

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation occurs on September 30. This day honours the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the resiliency of their communities. Join us for a time of introspection and reflection as we express our ideas and thoughts and watch videos that will expand our understanding of reconciliation.
