Volunteer Positions

We’re looking for friendly, dedicated front desk receptionists. The receptionist will greet members, schedule appointments, take payments and answer inquiries about the Centre.
Our volunteer receptionists are a core part of our team. They work closely with staff, members and other volunteers to assist with Centre administration and guest services.
Shifts: Monday to Friday; 9:00 am - 12:30 pm and 12:30 - 4:00 pm.

Our Amaryllis Singing Group is looking for piano players to accompany their singing! If you love music and want to help create a community hub where seniors feel welcome and included through programs and services we would love to talk to you!
Our Singing Group meets every Monday from 11:00 am - Noon.

Our lunch programs are very popular. Perhaps too popular (!) because we need more volunteers to help us with food preparation, serving, cleaning and general help.
Lunches are on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Various administrative tasks, computer skills, financial, filing.

Working under the instruction of Lead Cook, washing/chopping vegetables, preparing sandwiches

Helping Lead Dishes Volunteer, scrape dishes, load/unload dishwasher, put dishes aways, wipe counters.
Days/Times:
Tuesday 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Wednesday 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Friday 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Serving lunch, clearing tables, scraping dishes.
Days/Times:
Tuesday 11:45 am - 1:45 pm
Wednesday 12:45 pm - 2:45 pm
Friday 11:45 am - 1:45 pm

Setting up chairs and tables for programs, various general tasks around the centre, general cleaning, sanitizing
Day/Times:
Any day as needed

Helping with setting up specific programs.
Days/Times: Program dependent

Delivering newsletters/special events posters to various locations around town.
Days/Times: As needed

This position could consist of one (or a combination of both) of the following scenarios:
1. Pick up kitchen laundry from centre every Friday afternoon
between 3:30-4pm and take to your home to wash, dry and fold;
then return laundry to centre on Monday morning.
OR
2. Pick up laundry on Friday afternoons between 3:30-4pm and deliver to a laundromat located on the corner of Oak St and 15th Ave. Pick up laundry from laundromat on Monday mornings and deliver back to South Granville Seniors Centre.
Our laundry generally consists of two to four table cloths, and approximately 20 dish rags/towels.
The centre would provide the laundry detergent, and a nominal dollar remuneration for this service.Days/Times: Fridays

Helping with organizing events, setup, and take down, etc.
Days/Times: As needed throughout the year.

Making friendly calls to members - especially those who do not attend the centre regularly
