VANDUSEN BOTANICAL GARDENS

Trip details: Come and take in autumn colour at its best at Vancouver’s spectacular 55-acre botanical garden. Enjoy a guided tour of the garden’s extensive collection of plants from all over the world. We will also have free time to wander the garden and view the beautiful fall foliage. October showcases a number of plants and blooms in the garden, including ginkgo trees, autumn crocus, fatsia, asters, and hydrangeas.

DISCOVER DANCE: VANCOUVER TAP DANCE SOCIETY

This exhilarating program showcases the infectious rhythms, technical skill, and musicality of tap, tracing its vibrant history and its contemporary innovations.

Trip Details: Join us for a day trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery and view work by artists ranging from historic masters to leading-edge contemporaries. Exhibitions include Entangled: Two Views on Contemporary Canadian Painting, Gordon Smith: The Black Paintings, and Portrait of the Artist: An Exhibition from the Royal Collection. Tour the exhibits on your own, or join one of the Art Gallery’s educators for an overview of current exhibitions and focused discussions on select artworks on display.

CBC NEWSROOM TOUR

Reminders: Please bring money for a Transit Pass if you are not already a monthly pass holder. Please note that food, drink, and video cameras are not permitted in the newsroom. Due to CBC staff allergies, guests are discouraged from wearing strong scents and perfumes.

Trip details: Join us for a tour of the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre. CBC’s state-of-the-art integrated newsroom is home to CBC News Vancouver and CBC Radio, and our tour will include a visit to the television and radio studios, as well as the television control room.

Reminders: Please bring money for lunch or a packed lunch. Be sure to bring swimwear and a towel if you plan to swim. Admission to the Hot Springs Pool is not included in the trip cost. The cost of single entry to the pool is  $7.75 for adults 65+ or $10 for those under 65.

Trip details: Enjoy a nice and relaxing day trip to Harrison. Unwind in the famous Harrison Hot Springs pool, whose properties are said to have healing and rejuvenating effects. This trip is a perfect antidote to the cold winter weather!

VSO POPS: CLASSIC BROADWAY

Trip details: Symphonic Encounters is Vancouver Symphonic Orchestra’s open rehearsal series that gives audiences the chance to experience a living, working orchestra. Observe this world-class orchestra as they rehearse Classic Broadway hits in preparation for their VSO Pops concert. You will also have an opportunity to meet one of the musicians during intermission.

Trip details: Bloedel Conservatory is a domed lush paradise located in Queen Elizabeth Park that features more than 120 free-flying exotic birds and 500 exotic plants and flowers within its temperature-controlled environment. Enjoy the colours and warmth of the tropics in the midst of the cold winter!
