  • Representation Agreements – Planning for the Future and End-of-Life Care

    Are you prepared for end-of-life? For incapacity? For your future? Learn the steps needed to plan your future from a volunteer trained by Nidus Personal Planning Resource Centre! A Will is not enough. There are other legal documents that are needed to cover your health care wishes and financial affairs in case you are incapacitated due to illness or accident.

    Are you a Vancouver senior (aged 55+), caregivers, or family member in need of help? Our trained information and referral volunteers can provide you with information about government programs and subsidies (Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Guaranteed Income Supplement), Disability Pension, Medical Services Plan, BC Bus Pass, HandyDART, housing subsidies, Power of Attorney and Wills, and more. Volunteers can also help with completing forms for government programs and subsidies.

    Please note that we do not provide counselling or advocacy.

  • Legal Clinics with Access Pro-Bono

    Access Pro Bono strives to increase access to justice for individuals of limited means throughout BC. This service provides up to a half-hour of free legal advice from licensed volunteer lawyers (additional appointments may be made). This service is for low-income individuals of any age. Please call to find out if you meet the requirements.

  • CVITP (Community Volunteer Income Tax Program) Income Tax Clinics

    Are you a low-income seniors living in the South Granville neighbourhood? The South Granville Seniors Centre is pleased to offer free-of-charge tax preparation for qualifying individuals. Our Income Tax Clinics are affiliated with CRA’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), and are provided by appointment only, free of charge by volunteers.

    Please note that CVITP clinics are open only to low-income seniors with simple tax situations who are unable to file their own returns (Single individuals: Up to $30,000, Couples: Up to $40,000). Volunteers are only able to prepare current year returns and do not prepare returns for complex situations (Returns for deceased persons; Individuals who file for bankruptcy; Self-employed individuals; Individuals who report capital gains or losses; Individuals who report employment expenses or business or rental income and expenses).

    To book your appointment, please call 604-732-0812. Please bring all your income tax information, such as T4 and T5 slips, receipts, and a copy of last year’s return for reference.
