On August 1st, we gathered at the Centre and boarded the bus for Horseshoe Bay to take a ferry over to Bowen Island. Our Bowen Island trip was one of our biggest adventures of the summer. Once we arrived at the Bowen Island Ferry Terminal we took off on a nature walk, swam at one of the island’s sheltered beaches and strolled through its quaint shops.
Over 45 seniors joined us on August 8th to explore Whistler – one of Canada’s most popular destinations. At Whistler we enjoyed scenic panoramic views, explored the village and some of us even took the gondola up to a lookout point at the top of Blackcomb! AND WE SAW BEARS! We also had enough time to have a nice lunch and check out local art galleries and museums.

On our way back from a long trip on the Island!
On August 14th we boarded the bus to Vancouver Island to visit B.C.’s capital city. While in Victoria we went on a sightseeing tour, we also visited historic Chinatown and had lunch at the harbour.

For our last trip of the season we visited Stanley Park and celebrated the end of summer with a party! We brought our BBQ along for the trip and prepared a BBQ lunch. After eating, some of us walked around the park while others played games at our picnic site. Badminton rackets were dusted off, some people played dominos and Clemencia even brought along her Columbian game: Sapo! We had a blast – our BBQ picnic was the perfect way to end the season.
The summer trips were a huge success! Thank you all for joining us on our trips and making this summer so much fun 🙂
